Review
Act I:
In fair San Francisco, where we lay our scene,
A company sought to improve medicine.
The genius of science, the pride of man
Determined to cure what nature could not plan.
But in this quest of human mind
What began as hope, left man behind.
A virus was made, a deadly mistake
That caused death and destruction, no one could fake.
Act II:
But from this horror no mistake was greater
For within the lab lay an unexpected traitor.
A baby chimp so innocent and sweet
Became the harbinger of man’s defeat.
His mother dead, he was taken in
By Will Rodman, a scientist driven to win.
He named him Caesar but little did he know
The power that would grow within his tiny foe.
Caesar grew fast with intelligence untold
His emotions complex and his loyalty bold.
He learned to speak and sign with ease
While humans remained blind to his growing unease.
Act III:
As Caesar’s strength grew so did his strife
Forced into captivity he yearned for life.
The abuse he faced at the hands of man
Brought forth a rebellion that none could ban.
His fellow apes rallied to his cause,
Their fury unleashed without pause.
They broke free from their cages and began to run,
Their rise had begun just as the day had done.
With Caesar at their helm they took to the trees,
And soon the humans were brought down to their knees.
The chimps gained power they never knew before,
And humanity watched in awe as they rose once more.
Act IV:
As Caesar oversaw the revolution he wrought,
His loyal followers remained close-knit and taught.
They built a society based on simian ways,
Far from human interference it thrived for countless days.
But as time went by tensions grew deep,
And factions emerged among creatures that creeped.
Koba, once loyal, became Caesar’s foe,
And his betrayal caused the blood to flow.
Act V:
The war between humans and apes did not cease,
For the two factions each sought to increase.
With no compromise in sight, their hatred grew
And a final battle ensued among them too.
In this war, Caesar stood at its core,
Determined to save his kind forevermore.
He fought with heart and soul until he fell,
A sacrifice for the chimps he loved so well.
In his last moments he found humanity’s grace,
Buried in man’s embrace, as they looked upon his face.
His legacy lives on in the apes he set free
A symbol of hope for all those who seek equality.
