Review
Ladies and gentlemen, I have a movie that’ll make you experience love in a whole new dimension. Our film for today is none other than the sci-fi romance flick “Comet.” Buckle up, folks! We’re about to take a journey through the stars and into the hearts of our protagonists.
“Comet” is a fascinating movie directed by Sam Esmail that explores the relationship between Dell (Justin Long) and Kimberly (Emmy Rossum). The entire movie takes place during six crucial moments in their six-year-long relationship, each event portrayed in parallel universes.
The storyline of this movie centers around two people from different worlds who meet at the worst possible time but end up falling in love nonetheless. Their love story begins during a meteor shower where they both end up in the same hotel room after running into each other and sharing a moment unlike any other. Despite their differences, they feel a strong pull towards each other that draws them together over and over again.
The plot is not your typical rom-com formula; it’s more complex than that. “Comet” is filled with symbolism and metaphors, making it challenging for those who prefer straightforward movies. The use of science fiction elements adds an entirely different dimension to this otherwise conventional love story.
Let’s talk about the cast members who portray Dell and Kimberly. Justin Long as Dell delivers an excellent performance with his witty one-liners and sarcastic humor. He brings life to his character by portraying Dell’s complexities so well that audiences can’t help but root for him throughout the movie. Emmy Rossum as Kimberly delivers perhaps one of her best performances as an actress yet. She nails her role as a free-spirited artist who has trouble figuring out what she wants in life.
One of my favorite quotes from this movie comes from Dell when he says, “Love is like breathing; you can’t help but do it, or you’ll die.” This line encapsulates the essence of the movie, showing that love is something we cannot resist, and it’s one of life’s necessities.
The movie has received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. While some praise its unconventional storyline and great performances by the actors, others argue that it’s too vague and too complicated to follow. However, it’s a fact that this movie has built a cult following over time.
The cinematography in “Comet” is stunning. The film features beautiful shots of different locations in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Paris. The special effects are also impressive; the scenes set in outer space where Dell and Kimberly float in zero gravity are breathtaking.
Despite its strong points, “Comet” did not receive any major awards during its release. However, fans of the movie continue to celebrate it as a hidden gem.
In conclusion, “Comet” is a unique movie that explores love in an entirely new way. It delivers great performances by Justin Long and Emmy Rossum while presenting stunning visuals with its use of cinematography & special effects. Although it may not be everyone’s cup of tea due to its unconventional storyline structure, I highly recommend giving “Comet” a chance!
